So only people who had read and loved the original books would understand the world and the strange use of words and would be happy to learn more about the background of the characters. The book sort maybe me think that this was written as a prequel, after a really successful trilogy. I don’t know, I’ve just read so many excellent fantasy books that have used made up fantasy words but they made sense within the world and plot, this book just did not. I don’t understand why day was replaced to ‘lights’ but night was kept. There are strange words that are used to replaced perfectly fine ones. ![]() The language was a bit simple but at other times not. This book is definitely more on the younger side of fantasy and maybe that’s one of the reasons why I struggled a bit. I think maybe, because of the blurb and the front cover, that I was just expecting a completely different book. I think I think I could really enjoy the idea of this book but it needs to be completely changed and rewritten. Hard to put into words to explain this properly. On one hand I was sort of motivated to pick it up and read on but on the other, I just really didn’t care.
